Renew a valid e.firma (not expired or revoked) 

If your e.firma is still valid (not expired or revoked), you can easily renew it using the SAT tools: CERTIFICA and CertiSAT Web.

Before starting the process, make sure you have:

  • Your current .cer file (Public Certificate) and .key file (Private Key).
  • Your e.firma password.

Renew an expired e.firma 

You can renew your e.firma online if it expired less than one year ago, using the SAT ID, CERTIFICA, and CertiSAT Web tools.

Example: If your e.firma expired on October 5, 2025, you can renew it online until October 5, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. If it expired more than a year ago, you'll need to schedule an appointment to apply for it again in person at an SAT office.

Requirements to renew an expired e.firma online:

  • Have on hand the .cer file (Public Certificate), the .key file (Private Key), and the password for the expired e.firma.
  • A valid official ID (INE, passport, or professional ID card with photo is accepted).

Renew an e.firma that has been revoked or expired for over a year

If your e.firma was revoked or expired more than one year ago, the process must be done in person at an SAT office. The process is equivalent to applying for it for the first time.
