Renew a valid e.firma (not expired or revoked)

If your e.firma hasn't expired or been revoked, you can easily renew it using the SAT's tools: CERTIFICA and CertiSAT Web.

Before starting the process, make sure you have:

• Your current .cer file (Public Certificate) and .key file (Private Key)
• Your e.firma password.

Renew an expired e.firma

You can renew your e.firma online if it expired less than one year ago, using the CERTIFICA and CertiSAT Web tools.

Example: If your e.firma expired on October 5, 2025, you can renew it online until October 5, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. If it expired more than a year ago, you'll need to schedule an appointment to apply for it again in person at an SAT office.

Requirements to renew an expired e.firma online:

• Keep the same legal representative, and they must have a valid e.firma as an individual (persona física).
• Have on hand the .cer file (Public Certificate), the .key file (Private Key), and the password for the expired e.firma.

Renew an e.firma that has been revoked or expired for over a year

If your e.firma was revoked or expired more than 1 year ago, the process must be done in person at a SAT office. The process is equivalent to applying for it for the first time.
