How to sign documents in private signing process

Encrypted documents are signed in a very similar way to non-encrypted documents. In this article we explain the process.

Note: currently it is not possible to sign encrypted documents from the Mifiel mobile app, we are working to implement the option in the future.

  1. If you have a Mifiel.com account, log in with your username and password and in the 'My Documents' section click on the 'Sign' button corresponding to the document you need to sign.
  2. If you prefer, or if you do not have a Mifiel account, enter the email invitation to sign that arrived in your inbox and click on the 'Click here to sign' button.
  3. A page will open indicating that the document is protected with your e.firma. At the top left, click the 'Continue' button.
  4. Verify that the information on the right side of the screen corresponds to the e.firma you will use to sign. If it is not correct, contact the person who invited you to sign in the email that appears at the bottom of the screen.

    Important
: You must use the .key file and the password belonging to the e.signature whose information is shown on this screen. Otherwise, you will not be able to sign the document.
  5. If the information is correct, select the .key file of your e.firma, type its password and click on 'Validate and view document'.

    Tip
: Remember that the password is the one that you created when you obtained or renewed your e.firma. It is different from the one you use to enter the SAT portal or to generate invoices (unless you have chosen the same one).
  6. Once it has been verified that the private key and password correspond to your e.firma, the document will be decrypted and displayed for you to review. When you are ready to sign, click on 'Sign document'. The system will ask you to confirm that you wish to sign. When you are ready, press the 'Sign now' button, the document will be signed immediately (since you confirmed your e.firma to decrypt the document, you do not need to select it again to sign).
  7. Done! You have successfully signed. When all parties have done so, you will receive an email notification telling you how to download the document and decrypt it. You can consult the step-by-step process in the guide How to download and decrypt an encrypted document if you are a signer.
