What can I do when my e.firma files do not match?

What does the error “You've selected files from two different e.firmas” mean and how to resolve it?

The e.firma is comprised of two files: a public certificate (.cer file) and a private key (.key file). But what can you do if in Mifiel you get the error “You've selected files from two different e.firmas”?

Causes

If the Mifiel system shows you an error stating that the files do not correspond to the same e.firma, it may be for one of the following reasons:

  • You are using the public certificate (.cer file) of a valid e.firma and the private key (.key file) of an expired e.firma. Even if all files belong to your RFC, you cannot combine active and expired files.
  • You are using the public certificate of an individual's e.firma and the private key of a legal entity's e.firma (or vice versa).

How do I resolve this problem?

You must make sure that both files match and belong to a valid e.firma. To do this, you can:

  1. Observe how the files are named (e.g. in their name they say 'FIEL', 'efirma' or similar).
  2. Validate them in the SAT portal.
  3. Validate the RFC and the validity of your certificate from your computer.
If you are sure that the private key is correct, you can download your most recent public certificate from the SAT website and try to sign again with the certificate you just downloaded and the private key you already had.
