Electronic signature with identity verification: how to sign without an e.firma in Mifiel
If you don't have a valid e.firma, you can sign your documents using the electronic signature with identity verification. This process confirms who you are by comparing a photo of your face with the photo on your official ID.

What you need before you start
A valid official ID: an INE card or a passport from any country. It must be in good physical condition. Photocopies aren't accepted, and neither are IDs shown on a screen.
A device with a camera. We recommend a smartphone, since it gives the best results. You can also use a computer or tablet with a built-in high-resolution camera.
How to sign, step by step
Step 1. Open the invitation
Look for the Mifiel invitation email in your inbox and click "Sign document."
💡 We recommend opening it on your smartphone. Phone cameras usually work better for the verification, and you can finish everything on a single device.
Haven't received the invitation? See this article.
Step 2. Review the document
The document will open in your browser, either on your smartphone or on your computer. Read it carefully, and if you agree with what it says, click the green "Continue to sign" button.
Step 3. Choose where to continue
If you opened the invitation on your smartphone, go straight to Step 4. If you opened it on your computer, choose one of these two options:
Option A — Continue on your smartphone (recommended)
Use your phone's camera to scan the QR code on the screen. The process will pick up on your phone.
Option B — Continue on your computer
Click the "Continue the process in your computer" link. For this option, you'll need a high-resolution webcam, either built-in or external.
Step 4. Read the tips
Before you start:
- Find a well-lit spot, with no glare on your face or on your ID.
- Take off glasses and hats, and move hair or anything else that covers your face.
- Have your physical ID ready, and place it on a flat surface, like a table, when you photograph it.
Then click "Begin Process"
Step 5. Allow camera access
Your browser will ask for permission to use your camera. Accept it.
If you're using Firefox: check the "Remember this decision" box before you accept.
Step 6. Take a photo of your face
Follow the instructions on the screen.
Step 7. Take photos of your ID
Photograph your INE card or passport, following the instructions on the screen.
Step 8. Type your name
Type your full name exactly as it appears on your ID. You'll be asked to type it a second time to confirm it. Then click "Sign document."
⚠️ Signing is final. Once you sign the document, it can't be undone.
Step 9. Confirm and sign
You'll be asked to check one last time that your name is correct:
- If you spot a mistake, don't sign. Click "No, return to edit."
- If your name is correct, click "Yes, proceed to sign."
Step 10. Confirmation
You'll see a message on the screen confirming that your signature was recorded.
After you sign
By email. Once everyone who was invited has signed, you'll get an email with a link to download the signed document. If people still haven't signed, the email won't arrive until the last person signs.
From the signing portal. You can download your documents at any time. Go to the Mifiel login page, enter your email address to get into the signing portal, and click "Download" in the documents table.
