Revoked e.firma

What is a revoked e.firma?

The certificate of an e.firma (file with .cer extension) can be revoked to prevent the e.firma from being used anymore.

The most common case of revocation is when you obtain a new e.firma because the previous one expired or because you lost the files. Another reason to revoke an e.firma is when you suspect that someone else has access to it.

Why does the revoked e.firma error appear in Mifiel?

To ensure the correct use of your e.firma, whenever you sign a document with your e.firma in Mifiel, our system verifies in real time that the e.firma certificate has not been revoked.

If the certificate has been revoked, you will not be able to sign your documents. A revoked e.signature is not legally valid for signing any document.

What can I do to sign if my e.firma is revoked?

The most common reason for e.firma revocation is its renewal. Therefore, it is likely that you are trying to use your old e.firma files. In order to sign documents in Mifiel, you will need to find the files corresponding to your new e.firma and know its password.

If your accountant helps you manage your e.firma (which Mifiel strongly discourages from doing), ask that they send you the most recent files and password of your e.firma. With them you will be able to sign in Mifiel.

Expired e.firma

What is an expired e.firma?

When the SAT issues your e.firma certificate, it is valid for four years. Once it expires, it can no longer be used.

Why does Mifiel show the expired e.firma error?

When you select your certificate, the first check our system makes is that it is still active. If it is not active, you will not be able to use it to sign documents.

An expired e.firma certificate is not legally valid to sign any document.

What can I do to sign if my e.firma has expired?

The solution is to renew it. If it has not expired, or if it expired less than a year ago, you can renew it online. But if it expired more than a year ago, you will have to arrange an appointment at the SAT offices to renew it.
