What can I do if my certificate is already linked to another account?

When signing documents in Mifiel, the same e.firma can be used from different accounts but can only be linked to one of them. There are two cases in which this can cause inconveniences when signing but there are ways to resolve it:

  1. If you have more than one account in Mifiel but only one e.firma
  2. If you use a legal entity's e.firma

If you have more than one account in Mifiel but only one e.firma

When you have two Mifiel accounts and you have already signed a document using your e.firma in one of these accounts, you will not be able to use the same e.firma to sign from the other account (unless it is a legal entity's e.firma, which is not subject to this restriction). If someone invites you to sign to the email associated with the account that does not have your e.firma linked*, here are the steps you can take to resolve the problem:

  1. Ask the creator of the document to send the invitation to the email associated with the account that has your e.firma linked to it.
  2. Ask the creator to send the invitation to an email that you have access to and that has not been used to create a Mifiel account. It is important that you do not register on the platform using that email. This will allow you to sign from the signing portal for unregistered signers where you are not restricted in the e.firma you can use.

Alternatively, you can add this other email address as an additional email (alias) in your Mifiel account that has the e.firma linked to it. By doing so, you will be able to sign with your e.firma no matter if the creator of the document sends the signing invite to your main email address or to your additional email address.

If you use a legal entity's e.firma

Another possibility is that you are trying to sign with an e.firma shared by several people. This is common with the e.firma of a legal entity, which can be used by several legal representatives of the organization (the e.firma of an individual should never be shared for any reason). The solution is very simple:

If several signers share a legal entity's e.firma, they can all use it in their account and it will not be registered. They will only have to use the "select other" option during the signing process.

*Your sensitive e.firma files and data (the private key and password) never leave your computer when you use Mifiel. At no point does Mifiel have access to them or store them. To link your e.firma to your Mifiel account, we only store the corresponding public certificate and RFC. This way we protect the use of the e.firma and ensure that no other person uses it to sign without your knowledge.
